A day-trip in Chamonix

We decided to visit the most famous place in the French Alps, Chamonix. It was a gorgeous summer day. While Xiaohong and her brother Xiaohua went up the cable-car to "Aiguille du Midi" (up to 3842 meters in elevation), I stayed in Chamonix with William. We spent a couple of hours watching helicopters dropping loads of water on a fire that a stupid tourist had started by throwing a cigarette over in the trees while on a gondola...

After that, we took the famous Montenvers train to the "Mer de Glace". We got there by 5:30 pm by which time William was exhausted as he had not slept yet.
