When the ice retreats...

We visited a cave dug in "Mer de Glace". A great visit but sad though as we witnessed by how much the glacier had melted in a period of 30 years. At this elevation of 1925 m, it has losti n this timeframe more than 100 meters in thickness, the same thickness (110m) remains. The glacier is now recovered by moraining grey rocks, evrything has become so mineral, no more snow anywhere. The whole landscape has changed from 20 years ago when I came on holidays here with my parents. It looks far less idyllic now.
